He was stable jockey to John Manners for 3 years riding numerous winners, he then went on to be the head lad for Roger Curtis for a short period.
In 2008 Mick was offered the post of head lad at Andrew Baldings Kingsclere stable. This proved to be a great opportunity to work with top class horses and he gained a lot more experience while he was there in all aspects of horse training. In June 2010 Mick started to train on his own again, in the remainder of that season he had 3 winners and a couple of placed horses and had showed a profit of £106 to a £1 level stake. The 2011 season also started very well having had 20 winners, and numerous placed horses.
With better quality horses coming in the yard this year, Mick and his team really starting firing in the winners with Lochantanks, The Lockmaster, Stellar express, Demora and not forgetting Jimbo ( Art Scholar) who landed the November handicap!! Mick and his team have already achieved 38 winners from a stable of approximately 48 horses. The yard is now going from strength to strength and have now built up a great team of youth and experience in the yard and in the last three years of training the yard has achieved a remarkable Level £1.00 stake profit of £214.60 in the 3 years of training ( 12.11.2012) which no Newmarket trainer has done, this remarkable fact proves that you don’t need to be with the fashionable Newmarket trainers to attain great results.
